FAQ
What is Detailing?
Detailing is a specialized process of keeping your vehicle appearance as close to showroom condition as possible. Our aim is to have your car looking the way it did when you drove it off the lot.
How Often Should I Detail My Car?
Consider detailing your car whenever you get your oil changed or twice a year to promote optimal car health. Detailing depends on the wear and tear of your car and your expectations of how you want your vehicle to look. Detailing increases your car resale value and appearance and expands the overall life of your vehicle.
What is Mobile Detailing?
This can be very confusing to someone who has never heard of it before. Mobile Detailing is normal detailing, but instead the detailer comes to you. This is much more beneficial for the customer because they barely need to use any of their time, and don't need to worry about drop off or pick up times. Some mobile detailers have their own electricity and water, fortunately we are lucky enough to be one of those detailers. Our clients don't even have to be home. Because mobile detailing is more time consuming to the detailer, it is usually more expensive.
How Long Does It Take?
This depends on many things. The type of vehicle, condition of vehicle, weather, etc. Details can be as quick as 1 hour or as long as 8, although most are in the 3-5 hour range. If you are going to need your vehicle completed by a certain time, please let us know beforehand.
What Is A Ceramic Coating?
In simple terms, a ceramic coating is a form of long lasting paint protection that can be applied to your paint. These can last anywhere from 1-10 years. These coatings will provide many benefits to your vehicles paint and clearcoat. These include water beading, UV protection, deep gloss, and scratch resistance. Because of water beading, ceramic coatings can make your vehicle much easier to wash. Any ceramic or graphene infused spray bottle you buy at AutoZone is not a ceramic coating.
Can You Wash Cars With Ceramic Coatings?
Of Course!
Can You Get Stains Out?
Stains on a seat or carpet require a shampoo. I am able to get 95% of stains out, and always try my best to do so. If for some reason I am unable, I will always make sure the customer is fully aware.
What Is Leather Conditioning?
Many people fail to remember that leather is skin, and just like the skin on your body, it needs to be moisturized. What happens if your skin dries out? It cracks. This is the same thing with the leather in your vehicle. Leather Conditioning also acts as UV protection, protecting your seats color from fading overtime. Think of Leather Conditioning as sunscreen + moisturizer that lasts about 6 months.
What Is A Clay Bar?
A clay bar is exactly what it says, it is a small moldable bar that is made out of synthetic clay. These are used in auto detailing because they remove anything from your paint that a wash cannot. These are required before paint correction but are only recommended before waxing. They promote better adhesion with waxes and sealants, and can add more gloss to your vehicle.
What Is Paint Correction?
Paint correction is the removal of clearcoat to perfect and imperfections such as swirl marks and scratches. Scratches and swirl marks are simply uneven clearcoat. This V shaped cut into your clearcoat will not reflect the light that hits it, which is why you see a scratch. Paint correction is shaving clearcoat off to even that V out, and make the paint like new again. Although they can be used for different things, usually when somebody is using a buffer they are paint correcting.
What Is Water Spotting?
Water spotting occurs when you leave water to dry on the paint. The water will evaporate, but it will leave the minerals behind which in return creates the spot. Water spots in the short-term are harmless, and can be wiped off. But if you leave water spots on your paint for a long time, they can burn and etch into your clearcoat, and will require paint correction to fix.
What Is DI Water?
DI Water is water that has gone through a certain filter to remove all minerals and deposits inside of it. Detailers use DI Water because we can let it dry on the paint and it will be 100% spot free. DI Water is also known as distilled water. I have 2 tanks in my trailer, one with DI water and one with hard. I switch the pull from them based on the task and weather condition.
What Is A Rinse less Wash?
A rinse less wash is a modern technique to washing your car that can save lots of time, money, and water. Rinse less washes are designed so you don't have to rinse your car, and can fully wash it with only a few gallons of water. All you do is add a few ounces of product to a bucket of water (256:1 Dilution), and you are good to go to wash your car. Rinse less washes use polymers to encapsulate anything on the paint and wait to be absorbed into a towel. Once finished you just dry with a towel and drying aid. If a vehicle is extremely dirty or covered in mud, it is more safe to do traditional washing or rinse the majority of dirt off first. I use both traditional and rinse less in my business depending on time, weather, vehicle condition, etc. So if you ever see me washing your car with just plain water, don't be confused. It is special soap that is designed not to sud!
Do I Need A Wax Or Sealant?
To put it simply, wax and sealants do the same thing. They add water beading, UV Protection, and Gloss. The only difference is a wax will last at most 2 months, while a sealant will last 6 months.
